چکیده

HAAS and Goldblatt 1 reported that infusion of DMPP (l,l-dimethyl~t-phenylpiperazinium iodide), a ganglion stimulating agent, causes increase of pressor responsiveness to angiotensin. The experiments reported here reveal that, instead of enhancement of the direct effect of angiotensin on the cardiovascular S3'Stem, the larger responses that follow treatment with DMPP are due to adrenal discharge of pressor material that is presumably composed of catechol amines. Other ganglion stimulating agents "sensitize" the adrenal in the same manner, and a variety of vasoconstrictor drags elicit discharge from the sensitized gland.

بررسی رفتارهای حسی و حرکتی در رت‌های نوروپاتیک قبل و بعد از پیوند داخل نخاعی سلولهای کرومافینی

It has been reported that chromaffin cells secrete some neuroactive substances particularly opioid peptides and catecholamines which reduce pain. Adrenal medullary implant, have been used in other injury models to provide an endogenous source of catecholamines. The goal of the present study was to determine whether adrenal medullary implants in the spinal space could repair sensory and ...

An Uncommon Cause of Neonatal Hypertension

Background: Adrenal hematoma is a very rare acquired cause of neonatal hypertension. In this study, we report a case of neonatal hypertension associated with adrenal hematoma. A male neonate was immediately transferred to our neonatal intensive care unit after delivery due to meconium aspiration. He needed to be on mechanical ventilation support. During his hospital stay, hospital records showe...

Chemical coding for cardiovascular sympathetic preganglionic neurons in rats.

Cocaine and amphetamine-regulated transcript peptide (CART) is present in a subset of sympathetic preganglionic neurons in the rat. We examined the distribution of CART-immunoreactive terminals in rat stellate and superior cervical ganglia and adrenal gland and found that they surround neuropeptide Y-immunoreactive postganglionic neurons and noradrenergic chromaffin cells. The targets of CART-i...

Supplementary studies on the sites of action of pilocarpine.

Although it is generally accepted that pilocarpine affects the postganglionic cholinergic receptors and reveals a strong muscarinic action selectively, evidence has been cited to conclude that the drug affects other sites of the effector organs. Large doses of the drug do not induce a rise of blood pressure in an atropinized animal. But Dale and Laidlaw (1), Marrazi (2) and Ambache (3) conclude...

[Autonomic hyperreflexia in tetraplegic pregnant patient: case report].

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Complications of pregnant patients with medullary injury include urinary infection, renal stones, anemia, decubitus ulcers, muscle spasms, sepsis, uterine hyperactivity and autonomic hyperreflexia. Autonomic hyperreflexia is the most severe anesthetic complication and should, before all, be prevented. It is often developed in patients with medullary transection at the ...
